Welcome to Cancer Commentary

I’m Jane Chin, your Cancer Commentary blogger, and welcome to my first purview into “network blogging.” My doctorate (Ph.D.) is in cancer biochemistry, and did my graduate studies at the Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, New York. I studied how drugs stopped cell growth, and why. I spent over a decade of my professional life in healthcare research and business. A few years ago, I proclaimed my freedom from corporate employment and became an entrepreneur. Now I spend most of my time writing, learning, and teaching others. I am also developing resources to help PhD scientists explore alternative careers.

I have written a couple of articles for cancer patients that have been published in Coping with Cancer Magazine - one on metastasis and one on targeted therapies (”molecular medicines”) in cancer. My love is sharing knowledge to help you understand the English behind all that technical jargon. One of my longest running websites, Jane’s Mental Health Source Page, was originally created in 1998 when I tried to help a father understand some scientific studies in a publication, so he could understand what the study meant for his daugher suffering from bipolar disorder.

We have many valuable cancer information resources out there - and much focus on technologies and therapies. I hope to bring out the human stories behind these cancer commentaries.
