Exercise Has Positive Effects on Cancer Patients

Cancer Fitness : Exercise Programs for Patients and SurvivorsUpon following a moderate, home-based exercise program using resistance bands and walking, breast and prostate cancer patients had less fatigue during radiation treatments, greater strength and could walk farther and faster in only four weeks.These were discovered by researchers in a pilot study at University of Rochester Medical Center.

Exercise is indeed becoming a new therapeutic weapon to help cancer patients manage and reduce side effects of chemotherapy and improve their quality of life.

The moderate exercise they were asked to perform daily resulted in the patients being able to maintain their strength during radiation and reduced cancer-related fatigue.
