The Sister Study, To Unlock Secrets on Breast Cancer Prevention
Every woman’s worst nightmare (aside from getting raped) is I guess being diagnosed with breast cancer.
Anyway, if you’ve heard of The Sister Study – the largest effort ever in order to find the causes of breast cancer – is hoping to enroll 50, 000 women.
Interested? You must satisfy the following criteria:
- Women ages 35 to 74 may be eligible for the program.
- Your sister (living or deceased) has had breast cancer.
- Women who join the study must never have been diagnosed with breast cancer themselves.
The first part of the program involves a phone survey with questions about diet, jobs and things the sisters have been exposed to in their lives. There’s also a home visit by a female tech including weighing and measuring. Blood and urine samples are also taken.
“The Sister Study is making a special call to diverse women to insure that the results benefit all women,” recruitment counselor Lourdes Suarez said.
