Heading To Tampa For The Second Surgery

by Robin Dunn Bryant on March 20th, 2007

So this morning we leave to head to Tampa so I can talk to the anesthesiologist before my second surgery tomorrow.  I’m not sure if it’s because of all I’ve been though, but I’m not nervous this time.  I’ve pretty much got the let’s get this shit over with already attitude about all of the remaining treatments.  I realize that part of my journey is requiring me to gain more patience and to loosen my usual wants-to-control-everything grip I have on life and I think this attitude is proof that I’ve started to let go a little bit.

Last time we were down there we took far too much stuff with us and I wanted everything to work exactly the way they said it would.  I still would like them to keep their word, but my expectations are much lower now.  And instead of taking a lot of stuff with me I will probably travel with my iPod, my journal, and one of the Harry Potter books.  It’s just not as necessary this time around for me to bring a lot of comfort items with me.  I’m feeling much stronger now.
