Five Words: NEW JOB! and CLEAR MARGINS!

by Robin Dunn Bryant on April 3rd, 2007

Today has been a stellar day in the Dunn Bryant household.

After lunch I checked my cell phone’s voicemail messages. I had a message from the HR person at a job I’d interviewed for last week. Turns out my hunch was right and those folks flippin’ loved me. She made me an offer I couldn’t refuse: the opportunity to work a kick ass job as a trainer, health insurance with a much smaller bill, and a salary that is roughly four times what I’m making now. I jumped online when I went back into the office and checked the salary on PaycheckCity. This new job means that we can save more than 90% of my husband’s paycheck. If his job search turns out s as successfully as mine…

I worked late and didn’t even think about checking my voicemail at home until I came home and saw the notice light blinking on the phone. I’d called my doctor to see if they would fax me my pathology report so we wouldn’t have to drive all the way down to Tampa for a twenty-minute appointment. His surgical nurse, who rocks the house, left a message telling me that they could fax the report to me and that my margins were clear.

For those of you who aren’t savvy to cancer speak, that means that the re-excision was a success and they’ve gotten all of the cancer out of my breast. Since I didn’t have any lymph node involvement that’s fantastic news.

We’re pretty giddy hear. Hell, we should be. We’ve been living with the noose around our collective necks since June. Now we can pay off some bills, build a real savings, (buy the Concept II rower I’ve been lusting after), and set our sights on buying a house.

I probably won’t sleep tonight. And for the first time since the diagnosis that’s a good thing.
