Moving On
Today is my last day at my part-time job. I initially applied to this job when I was working another part time job where I worked at home. The job paid well, but sporadically, and I wanted to make sure that I had additional income for the times when the payroll department would “forget” to process our paperwork. Besides, I’d been working from home since we’d moved and I thought it would be a great way for me to get out of the house and meet some people.
The application process was pretty lengthy and by the time I got called in to do the training class, the high paying blogging job was over and I was more than happy to have another source of income.
I’m not too sure how they’d feel about being identified in my blog, so I won’t say where it was that I worked, but I wanted to take a moment to acknowledge how important this job has been to me the past three months.
The folks in my training class were on average ten-years younger than me and they were some of the warmest, wittiest people I’ve had the pleasure of meeting. We laughed and joked our way through the class as if we’d known each other for years. What could have been a tedious two week training was a blast, even on the days that I was sick from chemo.
Once we were turned loose in the company, we managed to find ways to work close to each other, and kept each other sane by developing a series of games that could be played on email.
They were some of the first people I met in
