Cetuximab (Erbitux®) is Effective Treatment Against Advanced Colorectal Cancer
When all other treatment options for colorectal cancer have been exhausted to no significant effect, cetuximab is the effective treatment option.
Such were the suggestion confirmed by a research study recently presented at the 2007 Annual Meeting of the American Association for Cancer Research
According to Derek Jonker, M.D., assistant professor at the University of Ottawa and Canadian co-chair of the study:
< blockquote>”Cetuximab improved survival in these patients when all other therapies had failed. This is the first time a single agent biologically targeted therapy has demonstrated a survival advantage in patients with colorectal cancer, and it is also the first time an EGFR-targeting drug has achieved this goal.”
Cetuximab, under the brand name Erbitux® is a product of Bristol-Myers Squibb Company and ImClone Systems Incorporated.

Are the horibble side effects that the patient must experience is the outcome worth it I’ve read that it has not been proven to extend life

They, I use the term loosely, say it is. I had the worse break out of acne I have ever seen, even on any 16 year old! As far as increase in life who knows my particular survival rate is supposed to be around 75% over the next 5 years and I am only 45.

Do not go to that horrible treatment Cetuximab (Erbitux ) if your body is weak . It is really strong if you can handle it ! My husband died after the first session .
