On: Lupron

by Robin Dunn Bryant on May 29th, 2007

After my second battle with the never ending period, I called my gyno (who is also an oncologist and a rock star) and asked him what he thought about me going on Lupron.  I’ve had several gynos over the years mention it to me because of my endometriosis, but I’d always resisted because I didn’t want to go into immediate early menopause.

The alternative – mind-numbing cramps and an extremely heavy flow – has changed my mind.  He seems to think that it’s a good idea on several different fronts, including giving me a chance to have the benefit of drastically lowered estrogen levels in my system while I get myself back into the habit of exercising.  I’ve dropped off the prescription and will be getting the shot this week.  Let’s hope that it works out okay.  I’ll be sure to keep you all posted.
