The Eight Things I Know

by Robin Dunn Bryant on June 21st, 2007

My grrrlfriend, Jessica tagged me with a meme, and as one who loves taking quizzes, I couldn’t resist.  Here are The 8 Things I Know:

Cancer can make people brave, fearful, extraordinary, or just plain stupid.

There are very few things that are as comforting as a phone call from a dear friend you haven’t talked to in awhile.

A dog’s love is one of the purest forms of love a person can ever know.

There are some movies that you saw in your youth that don’t hold up as you age – Caddyshack is one good example.

Nikky Finney is, hands down, one of the best poets I’ve ever read.

The family I’ve built for myself: my husband, my daughter, and our crazy animals, couldn’t be better.

No one should ever remake Marvin Gaye

Everyone should visit the Holocaust Museum at least once.

hi I love this analogy of 8 things I know, I have been around great loss of young people with cancer three years ago, very close to me, and I would say the eight things I know now are :
    1. Always smile and share the pain through tears.
    2. Read out loud the words of your favourite poem to share with those you love
    3. Take time to be with someone who is ill, even if you dont talk much just sit and be.
    4. Always always remember you can give some one a hug for no reason
    5. Crying doesn’t make you weak, it brings about healing and strength, It’s okay to cry.
    6. Appreciate the little things.
    7. Rain is a good part of weather, as the sun shines we get a wonderful gift from God.
    8. Always value the wonders of Nature, and the rainbow that appears after a stormy day.
