Having Cancer is No Gimmick

by Gloria Gamat on January 3rd, 2008

matthew_mcconaughey.pngI hope that it is just publicity gimmick that Matthew McConaughey is now dating Kate Hudson.

You know, they have a movie to be released next month - Fool’s Gold - their reunion team-up on screen since the movie How to lose a guy in 10 Days.

Gosh. I’m just glad he dumped that Brazilian bombshell (Camilla Alves). Still, I’m jealous as hell of Kate to be in Matt’s arms. He he. :-(

Anyways, going back to cancer. Having it cannot be anyone’s gimmick.

Cancer changes people’s lives in more ways possible.

tom_lantos.jpgLike this veteran congressman (Rep. Tom Lantos) that is now retiring after being diagnosed of esophageal cancer.

Lantos, a California Democrat, is serving his 14th term in the House of Representatives. In a statement released by his office, the 79-year-old lawmaker said routine medical tests showed he has esophageal cancer.

“In view of this development and the treatment it will require, I will not seek re-election,” he said.

Lantos retiring is fact not rumor.

But I still have doubts on the McConaughey-Hudson “union” as I haven’t seen any official statements at least from Matthew’s camp.

Could still be publicity gimmick! :-P
