4 Days ‘Til Valentine’s Day
Almost forgot it’s the love month. That one day of the year I enjoy ‘hiding’ — either in my college dorm bunk or in my room in the old apartment (when I used to live alone).
I reckon it is a good day to read a book or catch up on the movies I haven’t seen - in peace - while the rest of the world are wearing red or decorated in little red and pink hearts and the whole of humanity is festive — on a date or just have somebody to stare eyes with…having dinner under red heart-shaped balloons…
If there is that Christmas scrooge, I am probably the Valentine grump. ;-)
And I am not sick or anything. Not even bitter of Valentine’s day, I’m sure. Just indifferent of days that overuse the word love and caring.
Now, I realized that life is short to be sad and grumpy always. When my son arrived, that’s when I finally knew that Christmas or Valentine can actually be everyday. You need not wait that special day to tell someone you care and love them. With my son, I have a Valentine’s date for life, I think :-P
My son since then has been giving me “flowers” almost everyday. By flowers I mean twigs and stuff and weed flower or a leaf or a petal or whatever he gets from our backyard — which he gives to me each time saying : “flowers for you mom!” So I cannot really say that I haven’t received flowers before. ;-)
Life is short folks. If you have cancer or something else serious, it’s like time is against you, feels like life is even shorter or something — I’m not really sure.
So, lighten up…Valentine’s Day or otherwise.

I’ve never been a big fan of Valentine’s Day myself. Too much pressure to not only drown your significant other in gush and gifts, but also to be drowned in gush and gifts. Too organized. Too planned. Too expected. Of the 26 years I’ve been alive, I’ve had one V-Day that sticks out, and I suppose it’s because it was the one that wasn’t any of those “too” things.
I agree. Life’s too short. Give me kisses and flowers today. :)

I despise V-day. Too much hype, too much pressure on the guys to do the “right” thing for their gals.
And I really feel bad for anyone who has just STARTED a relationship.
Yikes.
Are flowers and candy too “intimate”? Is a dinner out on V-day too soon if you’ve only had a couple of dates? What to do, what to do!

Red roses or pink? Still pretty good any time of the year!

Angelique: Maybe V-day will be an excuse for new couples to do something really fun, even if kind-a pressured by this “official” day.
Art: between red and pink is a close call really. can i have both mixed together? would be a nice surprise any time of the year. ;-)
