On Teri Hatcher on Idol Gives Back and Michael Johns On American Idol
Sorry…this is totally cancer unrelated, I’ll try to create a tangent though. ;-)
For once I agree with Simon Cowell: if American Idol remains a talent competition and not just a popularity contest, you are going to be the winner.
Or was it David Cook he was saying those too? I can’t really remember now. I was really surprised and joined those whose jaws dropped when Ryan Seacrest announced that Michael Johns is out of the American Iol competition.
For most, it was just a coin toss between Syesha Mercado and Carly Smithson. I believe too!
According to this report from LA Times, Michael should have asked for America’s help instead of just being the brilliant talent that he is week to week.
Are you kidding me?! America must have forgotten the essence of text voting for TV show competitions such as American Idol. Why will I vote? Because I like/love that particular contestant’s talent and performance. Thus, by voting, I save him/her from being casted off and thus allow him/her to stay on the competition.
Why did Michael Johns get the lowest vote this week? Because most Americans did not vote for him and voted on the other Idol finalists instead. Do not tell me that you like his performance too much, that’s why you voted to “save” the others. That’s just irrational.
Plainly it just shows that Michael Johns has the least clout on American Idol voters, the least clout in America –simply because he is an OZ boy. ;-)
I gotta give it to this guy, he is a very nice, uber-talented person who will keep on dreaming on and make his dreams happen.
C’mon Paula and Randy…give Michael Johns a recording contract already!
Moving on to the Idol Gives Back…Teri Hatcher made the most impression on me when she stole Carrie Underwood’s song and performed it on stage.
She wasn’t half bad…considering that her only singing experience I know and remember is singing “Someone To Watch Over Me” on Lois and Clark. ;-)
Please…indulge me, here are the lyrics to that Gershwin song:
There’s a saying old says that love is blind,
Still we’re often told, “Seek and ye shall find.”
So I’m going to seek a certain lad I’ve had in mind.
Looking everywhere, haven’t found him yet;
He’s the big affair I cannot forget.
Only man I ever think of with regret.
I’d like to add his initials to my monogram.
Tell me, where is the shepherd for this lost lamb?Chorus:
There’s a somebody I’m longing to see,
I hope that he turns out to be
Someone who’ll watch over me.
I’m a little lamb who’s lost in the wood.
I know I could always be good
To one who’ll watch over me.
Although he may not be the man some girls think of as handsome.
To my heart he carries the key.
Won’t you tell him please to put on some speed,
Follow my lead, oh, how I need
Someone who’ll watch over me.Repeat chorus
Way to go Teri Hatcher!
And to every cancer cell in the body of each patient…may they all find some good anti-cancer ingredient to watch over those cancer cells and put them in place. ;-)
Hey…pardon my mush people…it’s Friday! ;-)
Here’s wishing you all a great weekend…cheers!

I was so shocked last night. Back when Chris was voted off, I truly was one of the viewers who just didn’t vote for him that week because I “knew” he had the whole competition in the bag and I felt sorry for someone else. Never quite stopped kicking myself until he made it big with Daughtry. But, this week?! Well, I won’t suffer the same guilt - I did vote for Michael Johns. I was so shocked to see him go, and even more shocked how how cruel Ryan was about it.
