Cancer on School Break

Who doesn’t look forward to school breaks? Both children and parents are so looking forward for the school year to end. I am a parent to a 5-year old who started going to pre-school and some day care of sorts since he was 2-and-a-half. Though not continuously: the first year we lasted only a month, […]

Birthday Mumps

I spent my weekend out-of-town prior to my birthday (Monday, June 9), so as to reconnect with my old friends.
While I had so much fun, I got the mumps instead.  The last time I had mumps (according to my mother) was when I was 5. Yesterday I turned 35.
What a birthday gift!

Cloning, Cancer-Sniffing Dog

Last time I read about cancer-sniffing dogs, though a bit skeptic — I knew it wasn’t going to stop there.
Now, a cancer-sniffing-trained dog is going to be cloned in South Korea.
A Japanese center which says it has trained a dog to sniff out human cancer cells is cloning the animal in South Korea, a Seoul-based […]

Winners of “Take The Test” HPV Awareness Bracelet Contest

Okay, moment of truth…
Earlier today I asked my 59-year-old mother and 5-year-old son to draw the 2 winners of the “Take The Test” HPV Awareness Bracelet Contest.
…and the winners are:
Kendra
Alicia
Before I can take an evidence of the little draw, my son tore the little pieces of paper where the winners’ names were.
But then, you ladies […]

Cancer and College Education

Paul McGee of American Cancer Society has pointed me to a report from The Washington Post, entitled: The Less the Education, The Higher Risk of Dying Cancer.
Quite catchy eh? I totally agree. From the said report, it says: “The difference in death rates between highly educated and poorly educated people in the United States is […]
